The things you learn from anime…
Immediately after leaving Wal-Mart today, I developed a case of hiccups. I don’t get the really cute hiccups, you know, the little ones that make the person hop slightly and blush. No, I get the type that jerk my whole body around, and cause my head to smack against the seat back of the car. They are very unpleasant, and they continue to get worse as time goes by. Typically I try to drink some water and hold my breath (at the same time, or as close to the same time as possible), but today I didn’t have any water with me.
Off and on I tried holding my breath during the trip home, but it was to no avail. We hit every stoplight, the traffic was bad, and the drive was taking twice as long as usual. I was at my wits end, so out of boredom and desperation I started thinking about some of the hiccup ‘cures’ that were brought up in Azumanga Daioh. Pressure on my eyes just increased my headache. But the second one I tried was pulling on my tongue. Amazingly enough, it worked! So, if you’re stuck somewhere with the hiccups, and haven’t a drink, give it a try. It may have just been luck, but it at least worked this time, and for that I’m thankful.
2006 – A Much Needed Break
It seems fitting that my very first blog posting would come at the end of a very important year for me and mine. After 3 years of fear and stress, life finally dealt the cards I needed to move forward. Plenty of mistakes were still made, as that is the nature of life, but there was entirely too many positives in this year to let a few bad moments bring me down.
With all of that in mind, I should talk a little about my plans for this blog. Quite simply, it will be the thoughts and reflections of me, Mylene McBride, a rather nerdy girl. Whether or not my thoughts will be of any interest to other people is probably quite debatable. However, I enjoy writing about certain topics, and will use this opportunity to do so. Anime, life, Star Wars, manga, books, movies, music, just about anything else except politics and religion, and who knows, those might get thrown into the mix as well from time to time.
Enjoy or ignore, whichever happens to be your cup of tea.
