Minami-ke — Episode 3
I think this series is finally starting to pick up a bit of its steam, although I’m not sure it will become a favorite cute comedy of mine.
Fujioka, the boy that tried to confess his love to Kana in episode 1, is back (well, not that he left, he just wasn’t in episode 2.) The beginning of the episode features an exam score battle between he and Kana that she just can’t seem to win. Later, he finds her napping in class and waits patiently for her to wake to tell her that their lesson had been changed. She assumes he was going to attack her, until he says that loves her.
Of course, Kana takes off yet again and seeks out Chiaki who causes her to totally misinterpret the confession as a challenge of sorts. At first I thought Chiaki was just doing it to be mean to Kana, but it really does seem like she’s convinced that Kana must misunderstand such things (who would confess to Kana is probably what she keeps thinking.)
Anyway, somehow or another Kana thinks having Fujioka over for dinner would be a good idea to get on his good side (avoid any future attacks) as well as get over the excessive amount of curry she made the night before. All is going well until Chiaki and Haruka start getting friendly with him, at which point Kana throws him out thinking he’s trying to make them all his allies in delinquency.
It was a fairly fun little episode. I really enjoyed the misinterpretation in the first episode, so it was fun having it back again this time around. They’re still doing the weird facial close-ups though, and unfortunately they had the cat mouth/onigiri mouth thing going on again that just looks kind of creepy. Still, at least this is getting a bit more amusing as the episodes progress.
