Reflecting Lights

{March 6, 2008}   Kodocha — Episode 11

Good episode overall, but there’s really not too much to say.

Since Rei was a bad ‘boyfriend’ he’s decided to be a ‘good’ manager, and has booked so much work for Sana that her head should be spinning.  While her costars keep falling out, she manages to get through 7 commercials without breaking a sweat–although she really would prefer to get to play with her friends more.

After running into Hayama’s father, she begins to learn that when Hayama says he doesn’t hate something, that generally means he loves it.  Yeah, she realizes the crush.  I like that.  So often the object of affection in anime doesn’t realize that they are, but in this series, they do.

Anyway, shortly thereafter Hayama’s father collapses.  In his fear, Hayama calls Sana.  While he doesn’t ask her to come, she does anyway, and he reaches to her for a hug, and doesn’t let go of her hand until they find out his father is just fine (at which point he lets go quickly as if to say, “what hand?”)

Before leaving, Sana gives Hayama one of the vibrating beepers, so if he ever needs her, for anything or nothing, he can reach her.  Given that she doesn’t currently have romantic feelings for him, this is especially sweet.

Overall a very good episode.  The commercial stuff is just bizarre, but overall, nicely done.
