Kurenai — Episode 4

I am truly loving this series!

The episode picks up where we left off with Murasaki following Shinkurou to the job he’s taken from Ginko.  Things get ugly, Murasaki actually gets knocked unconscious, and the “horn” comes out.  It seems there’s a blade (made of bone?) that comes out of Shinkurou’s elbow–that’s what he kept messing with in earlier fight scenes.

Anyway, while the action was great, it was the simpler parts of the episode, like Murasaki trying to clean their room (she washed the remote control!) and her excitedly getting Shinkurou to tell her about when he was a child.  We learn why he works for Benika, and what his past was.  He was involved in a bombing of an airport, and then he and other children (one girl seemed to be Ginko, but it wasn’t completely established as fact) were kidnapped.  Benika and her men were the ones to rescue the children, and he looked up to her ever since.

Really, there isn’t that much to say about the episode, except that I found it to be excellent.  It was paced very well, kept my attention, and the flaws of previous episodes (such as Murasaki’s seiyuu being way to screechy in episode 2) seem to have gone away, leaving with unfettered wonderfulness.  Truly enjoyable to experience.
