Postcards from No Man’s Land
Today I finished up Postcars from No Man’s Land by Aidan Chambers. It finishes up a goal of mine to read all of the Printz Award winning novels. For those not in the know, the Printz Award celebrates excellence in literature for young adult. Typically, the novels have an element of controversy to them. Such as sex, suicide, racial relations, teen pregnancy, familial abuse, murder, drug abuse, depression, etc. That, of course, makes them sound like they’re melodramatic drivel. This is certainly not the case–usually, at least. Certainly some were of much higher quality than others (to me, the most recently written books have been significantly better than the earlier winners), but overall even the lesser ones were enjoyable.
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
I finished this one up on Wednesday. For some reason, my husband watched the last episode with me (the only episode he’d seen, really.) At the halfway point he turned to me and asked, “Isn’t anything going to happen?” Which of course it wasn’t–the season should have ended with the previous episode, after all.
